This past Friday the Bobcats hosted the visiting Longview HEAT. The Bobcats were able to secure a 56-19 win, their first of the season.
The Bobcats were finally able to get their offense rolling, scoring 48 points in the first half. Jeremiah Corley and Seth Vandiver both led the offense with Corley scoring 4 touchdowns on the ground, and Vandiver adding 1 touchdown pass to BJ Russell, and also adding 2 more scores on the ground. In the second half, the Bobcats picked up another score when Lucas Hendrix connected with CJ Russell on a quick pass to the end zone. The Bobcats also picked up some big yards on a pass from BJ Russell to Hunter Lindley, and big runs from Clyde Bumgardner, Tyler Callaway, and Landon Moulton.
Defensively, the Bobcats were led by 2 brothers on the squad, Darion Greer & Rogers Martin. Darion ended the night with 5 tackles, a forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, and an interception caused by his brother, Rogers, big pressure on the QB. Isidro Hernandez also came away with an interception early in the game. In the second half, the Bobcats were led by a younger bunch of Bobcats. David Bumgardner and his brothers, Adam and Clyde, all tallied 3 big tackles.
On special teams, the Bobcats picked up 4 converted kicks from Ronnie Foster and recovered several onside kicks.
These guys worked hard for their first win, and we plan to continue this momentum into the game this week at Fruitvale at 7:30 against Tyler Willowbend. Thank you again to everybody for the incredible support for these guys. We all appreciate it very much!
