Teresa McCasland is a seasoned teacher and innovative administrator that brings a wealth of instructional strategies and educational expertise
to Fruitvale I.S.D. She is currently finishing up her doctorate in Global Leadership at Dallas Baptist University and has studied abroad in Taiwan and China recently, working closely with officials from the Republic of China’s Ministry of Education and speaking at schools and universities in the Orient. She has also completed a study symposium in Washington D.C. that entailed working first hand with cabinet members of the U.S. Department of Education, the White House, and meeting with Education officials on Capitol Hill regarding federal education policies and funding. During her summer study program in Washington D.C. she also studied leadership and development at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
Mrs. McCasland holds a Masters degree in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor of Science degree with triple majors in Education, Literature, and Theatre Communications; as well as an Associate of Arts degree in American Sign Language. Her Texas Education Certifications include Superintendent, Principal, and Secondary Teacher. Before becoming an administrator Mrs. McCasland served as the Department Chair of Fine Arts, Foreign Languages, and Physical Education at Terrell High School. She was also the U.I.L. Academic Coordinator, Community Volunteer Trainer and Coordinator, as well as a Mentor Teacher. As the Fine Arts Chair and Theatre teacher she served in the capacity of administrative support staff facilitating many local, state, and national events including the 2005 Academy Awards Oscar Watch Party and the Welcome Home Jamie Foxx program in 2009. She has worked alongside community leaders, politicians, and celebrities on many occasions.
Accolades include numerous Teacher of the Year awards at the campus, district, county, and state levels; as well as a National Disney Teacher of the Year nominee. Mrs. McCasland has also been distinguished as Who’s Who Among American Women and has received the Fred Award of Excellence. She is a local resident and graduate of Edgewood High School. She is married and has four children one of whom is multiple Emmy nominated writer and director Cameron McCasland. Her daughters hold degrees in Psychology and Education.
Mrs. McCasland is a published author and motivational speaker and has spoken at events coast to coast. She travels extensively for business and pleasure as well as family visits because one of her children lives in Europe presently.
Her goals for Hallie Randall Elementary School is to “work smarter, not harder so that we can take this campus from good to great and give our students an opportunity to reach their greatest potential.”
