NWEA Maps:

The NWEA MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessment is a valuable tool for measuring students’ academic growth throughout the school year. This computerized, adaptive test adjusts its difficulty based on each student’s responses, providing an individualized assessment experience. MAP tests focus on core subjects like math, reading, and language usage.

For parents, MAP results offer insight into your child’s strengths and areas for growth. The test provides a RIT score, which helps teachers understand what your child is ready to learn next, allowing for more personalized instruction. It also helps track progress over time, ensuring that students are growing at an appropriate pace.

Encouraging your child to try their best on the MAP assessment can give us essential information to better support their learning journey!

The program includes family engagement activities and resources you can use at home to reinforce what your child is learning in the classroom.

TPRI:

The Texas Primary Reading Inventory (TPRI) is an early reading assessment designed to help teachers understand your child’s reading development. It is used with students in kindergarten through 3rd grade and assesses key literacy skills, including phonemic awareness, word reading, and comprehension. The TPRI helps identify students who may need additional support in reading and allows teachers to tailor instruction to meet each student’s needs.

For parents, TPRI results provide valuable information on your child’s reading strengths and areas for improvement. Teachers use this data to create targeted instruction that helps every child develop essential reading skills. TPRI is a vital tool in ensuring that students are on track to becoming confident, proficient readers.

High-Quality Instructional Materials

High-quality instructional materials (HQIM) are carefully designed to support effective teaching and learning in the classroom. These materials are aligned with state standards and backed by research to ensure they meet students' diverse needs. HQIM includes textbooks, digital resources, and other learning tools that provide clear, engaging lessons and activities.

For parents, this means that the lessons their children receive are built on proven best practices that help deepen their understanding and mastery of essential skills. High-quality materials provide consistent, rigorous content that prepares students for success in school and beyond. They also support different learning styles, ensuring all students can access and engage with the material.

Gifted and Talented Program:

Gifted and Talented (GT) programs in Texas are designed to meet the unique academic and creative needs of students who demonstrate advanced abilities. These programs offer enriched and accelerated learning opportunities that challenge students to think critically, solve problems, and explore subjects in greater depth. The goal is to provide an environment where gifted students can reach their full potential.

Students are identified for GT programs through a comprehensive process that includes assessments, teacher recommendations, and parental input. Once identified, students may participate in advanced coursework, specialized projects, and activities that foster creativity and higher-level thinking.

If you believe your child may qualify for the GT program or want more information, please contact the school for details on the identification process and program offerings!

OUR TEACHERS AND STAFF:

Blended Learning

Blended learning at Hallie Randall Elementary combines traditional in-person instruction with digital tools and online resources to create a more personalized learning experience for students. This approach allows students to work at their own pace, access engaging content, and receive immediate feedback while benefiting from direct teacher support.

Here are some key benefits of blended learning for elementary students:

  • Personalized Learning: Blended learning allows teachers to tailor lessons to each student’s needs, helping close learning gaps and challenge advanced learners.
  • Increased Engagement: With access to interactive digital content, games, and videos, students often find lessons more engaging and enjoyable, enhancing their learning experience.
  • Teacher Support: While students work independently on some tasks, teachers can provide targeted instruction, small group lessons, and personalized support as needed.

For parents, blended learning offers more transparency into what students are working on, as many digital platforms provide real-time updates on progress and areas for improvement. Encouraging your child to stay engaged with both in-class activities and online resources at home can further enhance their learning experience.

WIN Time and Intervention:
WIN (What I Need) Time is a dedicated period during the school day at Hallie Randall Elementary that focuses on providing personalized academic support for all students. During WIN time, students receive targeted instruction based on their individual learning needs, whether they require intervention, enrichment, or practice in specific skills. This allows every child to get precisely “what they need” to succeed.

Key Aspects of WIN Time

  • Targeted Intervention: For students struggling with particular concepts, WIN time provides focused, small-group instruction to address learning gaps. This helps students catch up and build confidence in areas needing additional support.
  • Enrichment Opportunities: For students who have already mastered grade-level material, WIN time offers enrichment activities that challenge them to think critically and explore topics in greater depth.
  • Flexible Grouping: Students are grouped according to their current needs, which may change throughout the year. Teachers use assessment data to determine where students need the most support or enrichment, ensuring personalized instruction.
  • Skill Practice: Some students use WIN time to practice and reinforce skills they’ve learned, giving them more time to master important concepts before moving on to new material.

With WIN time, we’re committed to helping every student succeed by meeting them where they are and providing the tools they need to reach their full potential!

Teacher Incentive Allotment:
The Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) program is designed to reward and retain highly effective teachers by offering performance-based incentives. At Hallie Randall Elementary, the TIA helps improve instruction by recognizing and supporting outstanding teachers who significantly impact student achievement. Here’s how it benefits our campus:

  • Attracts and Retains Top Teachers: The TIA program offers financial incentives for high-performing teachers, encouraging them to stay on our campus and continue making a difference in the lives of our students. This helps ensure that your child is learning from skilled, dedicated educators.
  • Focus on Student Growth: Teachers participating in TIA are evaluated based on their ability to improve student outcomes. This means they are constantly refining their instructional strategies and using data-driven approaches to help every student succeed through intervention, enrichment, or personalized instruction.
  • School-Wide Collaboration: High-performing teachers often share their expertise with colleagues, creating an environment where best practices are shared, and instructional quality is raised for all classrooms. This teamwork enhances the overall learning experience for students.

For parents, the TIA ensures that their child receives high-quality instruction from teachers who are committed to fostering academic growth. By investing in our educators, we are investing in your child’s success and the future of our school community!

At Hallie Randall Elementary, we take immense pride in offering the best instructional resources and teachers to support the success of every student.
