The football team dropped another close game against Fruitvale alum, Wade Johnson, and the Bluff Dale Bobcats this past Friday night. The defense came to play again, but costly turnovers and mental mistakes were the downfall yet again for the boys.
The Bobcats started out the night in a quick 14-0 hole after giving up 2 quick scores after a long touchdown on the first defensive series of the night, then a fumble deep in our opponents' territory that was returned 60+ yards for a touchdown.
The offense started to pick up some momentum, but after 2 more fumbles and another Bluff Dale touchdown, the Bobcats were down 20-0 at the half.
Coming out of halftime the Bobcat's started to roll when Seth Vandiver hit Jeremiah Corley on a 30 yard touchdown pass. After Ronnie Foster converted the kick, the Bobcats had new life. The Bobcats defense got a huge stop and marched the ball down the field thanks to the hard running of Jeremiah Corley. The Bobcats picked up another score when Rogers Martin pounded in a hard 10 yard touchdown run, followed by another Ronnie Foster converted kick.
With the score now set at 20-16, the Bobcats needed one more stop to get the opportunity to finish off the comeback, unfortunately, Bluff Dale finished off a long drive that resulted in another touchdown score. After the score, the Bobcats were unable to finish the comeback and fell just short at 28-16.
These boys have worked incredibly hard and have shown an unbelievable amount of heart these past 2 weeks. Please be sure to let them know you are proud of them. We look to get our first win at home this week against Longview HEAT starting at 7:30.
