A Message from Mrs. Bain...
01/09/2019

Welcome to 2019!!!

The first semester is over and we are looking forward to a great second semester of school. We are so proud of the work of our students and faculty at Fruitvale ISD. Our cross country teams sent both girls and boys teams to regional competition, our volleyball team advanced to playoffs; our FFA students have competed successfully in animal shows and LDE competitions sending a team to area. Elementary and Junior High UIL were highly successful with our students excelling academically in many areas. We are so proud of our student success.

The district has acquired multiple grants including a new one this year called the Innovative Cluster Industry Academy start up grant. Fruitvale ISD chose to plan for a new career pathway under the Aerospace and Defense cluster, Mechanical Engineering Technology. We were the only district in Region VII selected for this grant and students will be able to earn several certifications to take with them upon graduation including CAD/CAM/CNC, machining, national incident management system, occupational skills award, OSHA Safety Certification, SolidWorks Mechanical Design, or will be able to acquire a Mechanical Engineering Technology associates degree from TVCC, that can transfer into the Engineering college of their choice. This is considered a high demand pathway by the Texas Workforce Commission. The district is working with Trinity Valley Community College and industry partner Mitchell Engineering as part of the program. Students will begin taking courses in this program during the 2019-2020 school year. As part of the program, students will also be able to acquire a FAA pilot’s license through our drone program if they are interested in that area.

We also acquired a Carl Perkins Reserve grant to expand our nursing program at Fruitvale ISD. Students are currently able to take classes that will lead to a Clinical Medical Assistant certification. Upon graduation this will enable them to work in this field or to be ready for any medical program in the university setting. We also are continuing our Veterinary Technology program where student can be certified as a Veterinary Assistant at the completion of the program.

Our district is able to offer these programs at no cost to students and families currently, as well as 30 hours of dual credit if students are in our dual credit program. Our state has expanded the opportunities for students to get career certifications in high school in the past few years and we are excited to offer multiple opportunities to our students. They can go directly into the workforce or continue their education in a university setting with these programs, but it does give them a head start to success.

We are so appreciative of the support of our community, please follow us on facebook at Fruitvale ISD for great pictures and information about the district or check out our newly designed website at www.fruitvaleisd.com.

Sincerely,

Rebecca Bain

Fruitvale ISD Superintendent
